​Saturday, 1 October 2022, The Council of Health Insurance (CHI) began to apply the new policy and implement leveraging the updated benefits package, insurance coverage limits, and Insurance Drug Formulary (IDF).

CHI explained that the implementation of the new policy has been started, and the utility of benefits package, updated insurance coverage limits, and the insurance drug formulary. The policy includes new benefits that aim at protecting beneficiaries, promoting their health, reducing the complications of diseases, and increasing local content.

CHI demonstrated that the updated policy was approved after a thorough and deep study with the participation of all stakeholders. It included a numerous of workshops that conducted among CHI and services providers, in response to the health needs and citizens and residents demands that has been monitored by CHI.

Dr. Nasser Al-Juhani, CHI official spokesperson, Executive Director of Enablement and Supervision, explained that the introduction of the benefits package, insurance coverage limits, and IDF shall significantly contribute to increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the sector's operations.

He revealed that the updated policy now includes a number of improvements and additions in benefits such as, kidney transplantation periodic and exploratory examinations, including early-stage breast and colon cancer screening, diabetes tests, among other services.

Al-Juhani pointed out that the updated benefits package amendments included increasing the cap for mental health coverage and raising the coverage of dialysis cases, stressing at the same time that the coverage limit for major companies' policy was raised to one million Riyals. He concluded by underlining that the updates he mentioned as well as other updates focus on achieving many goals, the most important of which is promoting the health of beneficiaries.
