The Council of Health Insurance has announced decisions to impose penalties on several employers for violating the provisions of the Health Insurance Law. These violations involve failing to provide mandatory health insurance coverage for their employees and their eligible family members. CHI had previously issued multiple warnings, urging these employers to rectify their compliance status.
Article 14 of the Health Insurance Law stipulates that if an employer fails to subscribe or pay health insurance premiums for their employees and eligible dependents, they are required to pay the outstanding premiums along with a fine not exceeding the annual subscription per individual. Additionally, violators may face temporary or permanent restrictions on recruiting workers.
These measures align with the CHI' mission to enforce mandatory health insurance coverage, safeguard the rights of health insurance beneficiaries, and empower stakeholders to achieve transparency and fairness. This ensures beneficiaries receive full rights to care and protection, delivered with the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Ms. Eman Alturaiki, CHI's official spokesperson, emphasized CHI's commitment to protecting the rights of CHI beneficiaries and their eligible family members through the imposition of penalties on non-compliant employers.
"We consistently monitor the application of regulations to ensure mandatory health insurance coverage for all employees and their dependents," Alturaiki stated. "We urge employers to comply with the regulations and provide the required health insurance coverage."
She further noted that compliance reflects employers' dedication to the rights of their employees and contributes to fostering a healthy and sustainable work environment.
